I am so excited to be getting back to work after the past year of cancellations and quarantines. To start off the summer I will be headed to Austria to make my debut in the title role of Puccini’s Turandot! A role i have been preparing for a while now and it feels like the right time to start singing her.
Turandot is Puccini’s last masterpiece. He died before he completed it, the final part being written by Alfano.
I am so extremely excited to be debuting this role in this particular production. Oper im Steinbruch is set in a large quarry, which is the perfect location for the Game of Thrones inspired set design by Paul Tate dePoo and costumes by Giuseppe Palella all to create the vision of stage director Thaddeus Strassberger who has already won many awards such as “production of the year” from Opernwelt and I can’t imagine that this production based on the photos I’ve already seen won’t also be the best production of the year. It’s an exciting combination of modern technology and culture on a massive, grande operatic scale. I couldn’t be more in love with his concept for this Chinese fairytale, full of passion, murder, revenge and love. It will also be my first time singing under the baton of Mo. Giuseppe Finzi and I am much looking forward to it!
I am also proud to announce that after having to cancel last year’s OSE festival, we will finally be able to have our inauguration season this summer. OSE is a dream I had of putting together a music festival with my dear friend Pierre Antoine Oury. Last year we were able to do a small concert for our sponsors, but this year we will be putting on full gala concerts with Orchestra in two different French cities! I have enjoyed very much working on the other side as the artistic director. Following seasons we will be producing fully staged operas. We are very grateful to the cities and regions which are supporting this project and our private sponsors such as Saga Mercedes and Pommery among many others.
I will be sharing more about this once we start doing our press releases so stay tuned!
